Residential Experiences


At Holt Hall, our teaching and learning is aligned to the curriculum and aims to develop pupils knowledge, skills and confidence. We focus on ensuring pupils have time and space to apply their learning first hand and by immersing them in engaging activities we allow room for creativity, reflection and higher order thinking.

KS2 Onsite Sessions

Our KS2 onsite sessions include Archery, Minibeast Magic, Orienteering, Plant Trails and Underwater Life. The sessions have a number of curriculum links including from Science, Maths, PE and Art.

KS2 offsite sessions include Fossil Finders, Coast Defenders, Holt Hall Town Study and a Farm Visit. The sessions have a number of curriculum links including Geography, Science, History and Maths.

KS2 Christmas

We hold a range of Christmas-themed KS2 courses including creating Natural Christmas Crafts and Victorian Christmas Cookies to hang from the Holt Hall Christmas tree.

KS3/4 sessions include a range of day and half day courses, for example: Settlement Studies, Coastal Processes, Raft Building and Variation and Classification.

A Level

A’ Level Residential visits to Holt Hall are unique in that we are able to offer a bespoke package which meets the new requirements of fieldwork within the most recent specifications. Both Human and Physical Geography locations can be offered within one residential visit by our experienced teaching team.

The Hall has a range of facilities to cater for up to 70 students and 8 members of staff. There is plenty of storage space in each bedroom, including bedside cabinets against each bed and a number of wardrobes. Recreational facilities include a lounge with a large format screen to watch DVDs; a library; souvenir shop; and a range of outdoor sports equipment.

Catering and Meal Times

Students and staff eat together, around family sized tables in one of our two dining rooms, giving everyone a chance to catch up with their adventures so far. Our meals are provided by Norse Catering who buy seasonal, locally produced and sourced ingredients wherever possible. Seasonal, non-certified organic fruit and vegetables are supplied from the Centre’s kitchen garden.
